Forum on new election laws for San Mateo County

United States

Tue, Dec 22 2020, 3:58 - 4:58pm

Come learn how elections are changing in San Mateo County.

Join Secretary of State Alex Padilla, Assemblymember Phil Ting and Senator Scott Wiener in learning about new state law that makes it easier for you to vote.

Where: Doelger Senior Center Café, located at 101 Lake Merced Blvd, Daly City 94015

When: Thursday, April 19 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Learn how the California Voter’s Choice Act will make it easier for how, when and where you cast a ballot. Most neighborhood polling places will no longer be used for voting. Instead, you will have 3 choices for how to vote - by mail, using a county ballot dropbox, or going in-person to a vote center.

San Francisco Pride Parade

United States

Tue, Dec 22 2020, 3:58 - 4:58pm

Rainbow Pride ImagePlease join me in taking a stand for equal rights for everyone. Come and march with me in the annual San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade, which is the largest LGBTQ gathering in the nation.

With the current national climate that encourages suspicion and distrust of “others,” it is important now more than ever that we come together to celebrate diversity in our community.

This year's Pride Parade will take place on Sunday, June 24, 2018.

The parade route begins south of Market Street (close to the Embarcadero MUNI/BART station and the Transbay Terminal) and runs to the San Francisco Civic Center. We will be meeting at 10:15 a.m. in the Financial District; once Pride Parade organizers notify me of the precise meeting location, I will send the information to those who RSVP.  Friends marching with us will receive a commemorative t-shirt and great memories! After we march, marchers who are RSVP’d are invited to join me for refreshments on the 14th floor of the State Building overlooking the celebration in Civic Center. The State Building is close to the Civic Center MUNI/BART station.

Please invite your friends and family. As always, if you need legislative information or assistance with state government, be sure to contact my office at (415) 557-2312.

I hope to see you on June 24!

Clean Cars 2040

At the coffee, I’ll also be sharing my plans for the state budget and new legislation. I have introduced AB 1745, the Clean Cars 2040 Act, which will protect our environment, improve air quality, and fight climate change by banning the registration of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles.

Transportation accounts for nearly 40 percent of California’s greenhouse gas emissions, and in 2015 California suffered $15 billion in health costs due to these emissions. In order for our families to have a cleaner greener future, we must transform how we get around.
