Virtual Town Hall

United States

Sat, Nov 13 2021, 10:00 - 11:30am

I encourage you to attend my next virtual town hall meeting to hear updates on the budget and new laws that will go into effect now that we have finished our legislative year in Sacramento. Through the state budget, I was able to secure nearly $12 billion to fund homelessness programs, including measures to prevent homelessness in the first place; this includes $47 million for San Francisco and more than $4 million for San Mateo County. We also provided $180 million to increase UC and CSU enrollment by 15,000 in-state students, and we increased per-student TK-12 spending to a record high of $21,000.

I also was able to secure more than $40 million dollars in the state budget for projects in San Francisco and northern San Mateo County. In addition, Governor Newsom signed six of my bills into law that focus on health, environment and the criminal justice system. Click here for information on my 2021 legislation.

As we ramp up for the next legislative year, come share your concerns and ideas regarding what the state can further do for San Francisco and San Mateo County.
