(Sacramento) – With relatives of gun violence victims looking on, Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco), Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon and several other Assembly Democratic lawmakers held a news conference in the State Capitol to discuss National Gun Violence Awareness Day (June 2nd) and pending gun related legislation. Assemblymember Ting authored Assembly Bill 2607 to allow employers, coworkers, teachers, and mental health workers to seek restraining orders that temporarily prevent dangerous people from owning or possessing firearms. “Mass shootings have become routine, almost daily occurrences across the country,” Assemblymember Ting said. “We don’t need more tragic inspiration. We just need life-saving solutions.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
