SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) released the following statement about the California State Legislature’s passage of measures to fight climate change through AB 398 and air pollution through AB 617:
“This isn’t a perfect deal but it’s the right deal at the right time. We will plot a path to environmental justice and leave the state better off than how we inherited it. Air pollution and climate change should be confronted simultaneously to preserve basic human needs for future generations. Our cap and trade program has emerged stronger. With more supporters than ever, the program has triumphed politically. On this foundation of inclusion and consensus, we can maintain the momentum for progress in all communities beyond the next decade.”
