SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco), Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, released the following statement about Governor Jerry Brown’s signature of the 2017-2018 State Budget for California. Brown signed the bill without any changes. Ting’s statement follows:
“This budget is a unified expression of California values during a strange and scary time in our nation. It protects the investments we have made in the success of our people and persists onward to build a more inclusive state. We are fighting poverty, standing up for immigrants, and rebuilding our infrastructure. These investments to expand our middle class are budgeted while the state responsibly amasses financial reserves unseen for generations. We have also enacted important reforms to ensure greater transparency at the University of California and fairness in our state’s tax system by reducing the functions of the State Board of Equalization.”
