(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) – Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) honored local clothing retailer Seedstore, a boutique clothier located in the Richmond District, as Assembly District 19’s 2016 Small Business of the Year.
“Each year, the Legislature honors small businesses that reflect the flavor of their districts and support the local economy,” said Ting. “This year, I selected Seedstore, a clothing boutique that reflects the casual, conscientious, and exceptional character of San Francisco. Additionally, Seedstore’s owners are dedicated to the prosperity and success of their neighborhood – that’s why they feature talented local designers and are involved in their community.”
Established in 2010 by Cynthia and Jennifer Huie, Seedstore stocks independent and major brand clothing and goods for men and women. After careers in fashion and retail, the Huie sisters set up their own store to reflect the urban outdoor aesthetic of the Westside, which is surrounded by Golden Gate Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, beaches, and the Presidio. Cynthia and Jennifer are dedicated to the prosperity of their community and are active in the Clement Street Merchants Association and sponsor community events such as the Halloween Trick or Treat on Clement.

The Huie sisters joined small businesses from across the state to be recognized at a ceremony in the State Capitol on May 25. This annual event recognizes the vital role that these businesses play in our economy and how important it is to nurture and grow small businesses. California Small Business Day was launched in 2000 to honor the contributions of small businesses to our state and is coordinated by the California Small Business Association.
