(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) issued the following statement in response to Governor Jerry Brown's signature of Senate Bill (SB) 350, which enacts the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act of 2015. The legislation establishes targets to increase California's renewable electricity to 50% by 2030 and to double the energy efficiency savings in electricity and natural gas by 2030.
"Fighting climate change is the challenge of our generation and California is showing the world what's possible. Prosperity and environmental protection are not at cross purposes. We have one of the world's largest economies while continuing our leadership on climate change. With California as the center of investment in green technologies, we have seen new industries and jobs created. Today's signature of this historic climate legislation will solidify California as the capitol of green innovation."
