Ting Honors Daisy Li at Haiyan Relief Benefit

For immediate release:

(Daly City, CA) - Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) honored Daisy Li, owner of Moonstar Buffet, who hosted the Rise for the Philippines benefit that raised over $25,000 for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

"Daisy is a force of nature," said Ting. "Her compassion and generosity have brought this community together to ensure that our support for Filipino relief and redevelopment are sustained over time."

At the benefit, Ting presented Li with a proclamation from the California State Assembly, thanking her for her outstanding work on this achievement and noting how the benefit "exemplifies the community's dedication and contributions to relief efforts in the Philippines."

Ting was a member of the host committee that organized yesterday's benefit dinner. He sponsored a table and dined with several local leaders, including Daly City Mayor David Canepa, Vice Mayor Carol Klatt, and Councilmember Ray Buenaventura; Colma Vice Mayor Joanne Del Rosario; and Tita Alice Bulos.

"With help, Filipinos can move forward and recover from these tragedies," added Ting. "That is why we must support the Philippines through this trying time to better days ahead."
