A plan to save lives in San Francisco and beyond, a unique mass casualty training called "Stop the Bleed" was held today to teach people to stop bleeding after accidents or mass shootings before emergency personnel get there. There was hands on instruction on using tourniquets and gauze pads.

.... Lawmakers passed a law for all buildings to have trauma kits so the tools are available. Assemblymember Phil Ting: "It's important to stop the bleeding. These kits have a tourniquet, gauze pads and can help in ways that ordinary people can work to help stop the bleeding." It was geared to the AAPI community but the goal is to continue to hold classes for anyone who wants to be trained.
