HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT LOCAL GOVERNMENT? WANT TO LEARN FROM DEPARTMENT HEADS AND OTHER COUNTY LEADERS? THEN CIVICS 101 IS FOR YOU!
The County of San Mateo is recruiting for their Annual Civics 101 Academy. In September, Civics 101 kicks off its free nine week series of courses centered around County Government and is currently recruiting for the 2018 session.
Civics 101 is a free, nine-week program that provides participants with an in-depth look at County programs, services and finances. Participants are exposed to the workings of County government, primarily via presentations by department heads. There are brief Q&As after each presentation.
The program is open to individuals 18 and older who live or work in San Mateo County. Classes will be held Wednesday Evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM between September 12 and November 14 in locations throughout San Mateo County. One Saturday morning session from 10:00 AM to noon will also be held.
Applications will be accepted through September 1, 2018. For the application form, and more information, please click here, or contact Eric Forgaard, Civic Engagement Specialist at eforgaard@smcgov.org or 650-383-4657. Applicants will be notified of their enrollment status by September 3rd.
