5th Annual Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival

After going virtual last year due to COVID, I'm thrilled to once again host, along with Supervisor Connie Chan, the 5th Annual San Francisco Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival, in person.
The celebration of the Autumn Moon is a time to reflect upon the bounty of the summer harvest, the fullness of the moon, and the myth of the immortal moon Goddess, Chang-O. This festival is often considered a "Chinese Thanksgiving" because of its celebration of gratitude and inclusion of abundant food - including the popular moon cake.
Join us:
DATE: Saturday, September 18
TIME: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Clement Street, between Sixth and Ninth Avenues
There will be lots of food, entertainment, games and more to enjoy. Hope to see you there!
Bringing Home Funds for Japantown
After decades of neglect, San Francisco Japantown's Buchanan Mall is finally getting a much needed makeover after I helped secure $5 million in the state budget. This public open space, which also serves as a vital commercial corridor, has not seen any upgrades since 1976, despite its historical significance. A centerpiece of the project is the repair of the iconic fountains designed by Ruth Asawa in order to make them operational for the first time in more than a decade.

I was honored to join community leaders and Supervisor Dean Preston to announce the funding. As our API communities face attacks and discrimination, I will continue to work in Sacramento to bring resources home to support historical and cultural assets in places like Japantown.
