Happy Pride Month! Join me in the June 30 Pride Parade
I've never been more proud to hail from California. Our state has the largest LGBT population in the country and is home to more than 40 local Pride celebrations, from San Francisco to Palm Springs. We have always unofficially observed the month of June as LGBT Pride Month. But this year, for the first time, California officially proclaimed June as LGBT Pride Month under state statute. Governor Newsom eagerly carrying out this official duty is a reminder of how great California is. People here are encouraged to embrace who they are and who they love.
In celebration of California's diversity, support for the LGBT community and the official proclamation of LGBT Pride Month in the state, you are warmly invited to march with me in the annual San Francisco Pride Parade on Sunday, June 30, 2019.
This year's Pride theme is "Generations of Resistance." From the first Pride celebration in 1970, to the election of Harvey Milk to the Board of Supervisors, to passage of San Francisco's landmark Domestic Partnership law, to full legalization of marriage equality, San Francisco's LGBT community and allies have continually bent the arc of history toward justice and to combat any adversities that stand in the way of equality. We march in June to celebrate history and inspire a new generation of heroes.
Please RSVP on my website or call 415-557-2312 to receive meeting information, reserve a commemorative t-shirt and be added to the list for admission to my post-parade party overlooking the celebration in Civic Center. Please forward this invitation to your friends and family. I hope to see you on June 30!
