It's Time To Vote
The November 2020 election is here. Due to COVID-19, all Californians registered to vote will automatically receive a mail-in ballot, which began arriving in our mailboxes over the last few days. Voting by mail is safe and secure.
If you are not registered to vote, please do so by clicking here before the October 19th deadline to ensure you receive a mail-in ballot on time. You can also use that same link to check your registration status.
Mail-In Ballots
To avoid crowds and ensure your ballot is received well before Election Day, I recommend filling it out and returning it as soon as you can via:
- US Mail: Take it to a post office or mailbox; must be postmarked no later than November 3
- Drop-Off Locations up to 8:00 pm on Election Day: Bring to any of the sites listed here.
Either way, you can track your ballot's journey here. On Election Day itself, you may drop off the ballot at your polling place.
Early In-Person Voting
Even though you received a mail-in ballot, early in-person voting is still an option, especially if you need physical assistance or want to use accessible voting equipment. The San Francisco City Hall Voting Center, outside of Bill Graham Civic Auditorium at 99 Grove Street between Polk and Larkin streets, is now open with safety protocols in place. You can check wait times here before making the trip.
- Mon-Fri: Now-November 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sat-Sun: October 24-25 & October 31-November 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This location is also open Election Day, Tuesday, November 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Be sure to sign your ballot, or it won't count.
Election Day, November 3rd
On Election Day, November 3rd, you can vote in-person or drop off your ballot at your polling place from 7 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you haven't registered to vote by then, you can conditionally register and cast a provisional ballot on Election Day. To find your polling location, please use San Francisco's voter portal.
Given all the options above, please vote because so much is at stake. If you have any questions, please visit the San Francisco County Elections Office website or call my district office at 415-557-2312. We are happy to serve you.
Sincerely,
Phil Ting
