State Budget Protects California & Persists in Moving State Forward, Says Ting

For immediate release:

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco), Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, released the following statement about the State Legislature’s passage of the 2017-2018 budget for California.  An Assembly Budget Committee overview of the spending plan is available here.  Ting’s statement follows.

“This budget protects the progress we have made since the Great Recession to invest in the success and security of our people.  It also persists onward with our goal to build a more inclusive and prosperous state.  We are fighting poverty, standing up for immigrants, and investing in our infrastructure.  All of this will build a stronger middle class and is being done while the state responsibly amasses the largest financial reserves in decades.  The Legislature is also asserting its role in the oversight of state programs with critical reforms to the University of California and State Board of Equalization to ensure more accountability to the people they serve.”
