Housing is Key
Don’t Miss Out on Rent Relief

As we head into the holidays, I wanted to remind you that rent relief is still available for California residents, regardless of immigration status, if their income has been impacted by the pandemic. The Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency is processing applications much faster after increasing staff.

So far, the state has distributed nearly $1.3 billion in payments, which is roughly half of the total funding available. The average household received about $12,000. The program is open until funds run out; therefore, I encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible here. San Francisco constituents can also find information here, while northern San Mateo County constituents can go here. Information in other languages can be found on the Housing Is Key Resources page.

This assistance can go toward both back and future rent. You can also request your past due utility bills to be paid off. For help with the application process or questions about eligibility, you can call the California COVID-19 Rent Relief Call Center at 1-833-430-2122 from 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.

I know times are still tough for many of you. This Thanksgiving, I hope you can take a moment to let gratitude flow, reflecting on what's good in our lives. For me, I'm thankful for my family and the job you elected me to do. It's such a privilege to be your voice in Sacramento and lead our state toward a brighter future.
