Please join me and Supervisor Connie Chan at the 8th annual Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival! Enjoy the festivities, as we celebrate Autumn Moon and give thanks with the community. This year's festival will take place on Saturday, September 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Clement Street between 7th and 11th Avenues. The location is accessible by the 1, 28, 38, 38R, and 44 Muni bus routes. My office will have a booth there for any help or information you may need on state services and programs.

This harvest festival is a time to come together with family and friends and celebrate. The holiday is thousands of years old and comes from the legend of Chang'e the Moon Goddess and her husband, the archer Hou Yi. Prominent holiday traditions include sharing and eating mooncakes and lighting paper lanterns.

The celebration will include performances by local organizations, delicious food vendors, and more. In honor of the Year of the Dragon, the festival will have many dragon-themed activities! We are hosting "Fire It Up: A Dragon Costume Contest" with lots of fun categories, including Most Silly Costume and Scariest Costume, and prizes for participants and category winners. Pre-registration is required, so sign your kids up here. Also, be sure to check out the booth from the California Dragon Boat Association and see a real life dragon boat.
