Our climate crisis is in need of young leaders ready to take action. I'm excited to see recruiting efforts ramp up for the California Climate Action Corps, a program that puts people to work in communities to support key projects in urban greening, organic waste, edible food recovery, and wildfire recovery.
For their eleven-month commitment beginning next month, Climate Action Corps Fellows receive a $30,000 living allowance and $10,000 in education awards that can be put towards college.
From September 2022 to August 2023, fellows advance environmental goals, cultivate change and leave a lasting impact. Upon completion, they walk away with work experience and certification that not only opens doors to higher education, but also moves California forward in the fight to restore our Earth. To apply, please visit the California Climate Action Corps website. The deadline is August 31, but slots can fill up earlier because applications are reviewed as they come in.
As Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, debt-free college has been one of our priorities for Californians, and we've allocated $122 million in the latest state spending plan to expand service opportunities like the ones offered with the California Climate Acton Corps. These investments will help keep our state strong.
Here's to brighter futures,
