Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco), Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, released the following statement about the Governor’s May Revision for the 2023-24 state budget:
“Even in the midst of revenue uncertainty, I appreciate that much of the Governor’s May Revision aligns with the Assembly Budget Blueprint. To continue our path toward improving the well-being of Californians, we want to protect the progress we’ve made in strengthening education, healthcare and safety net programs. Our robust General Fund reserves and Rainy Day Fund have positioned our state well to weather downturns, allowing us to keep these commitments. At the same time, we should also support the economy by stabilizing the child care industry and restoring the infrastructure funding agreed to last year for public transit. Investing in both sectors will help people go to work. We look forward to working with the Senate to deliver a balanced, on-time budget by the June 15th deadline.”
